In the chapters “the man I killed”and “ambush” I felt that Tim was very guilty for what he had done. It seemed like he was trying to cope with his guilty of killing an innocent man by replaying the scenario and seeing what he could have done differently. He also was trying to see if his actions were justified. One thing that stood out to me was how Tim kept describing the dead body in different ways in order to humanize it. This showed how Tim saw boy from Vietnam as a human, not just an enemy to kill. He saw that the killing going on in the war was unnecessary. It was important for the reader to understand this because Tim felt as though the war was unnecessary. Killing the boy for no reason was symbolic of the people being killed for no reason.
